March 6th will be his very first show so lets have everyone come out and buy Andy a drink.
errr... Dave a drink.

Hunger is 100% curable

On March 6th we are headlining the lineup at Coaster Bar in Racine to help raise money and awareness for the hundreds of families in the Racine area that are going day to day without a decent meal.

Once again, the annual Thoughts for Food benefit for the Racine County Food Bank will be held on the first Saturday in March. Admission stays the same as last year, $10.00 and (2) non-perishable food items gains access to ALL venues.

This years March event, like last years will be held in the "River North" area of Racine; between the Root River and High Street. Most venues are easily walked between, but there will also be a shuttle bus available that will be going between some of the "farther flung" venues.

Come and join hundreds, maybe thousands of your friends and neighbors to celebrate the passing of Winters' worst, the promise of another Spring, and the joy in not only donating to a great cause, but having a heck of a good time in doing it!

This web site will be updated constantly as the event approaches. Check in often for the latest news on bands, venues and related information

A 2010 update

We just wanted to officially make you all aware of our first big surprise for 2010.

We will be featured on a rotating calendar hosting “Open Mic Night” at McAuliffe’s on the Square located at 213 6th Street Racine, WI.  We will be opening the night with a few acoustic renditions of our songs and even peppering in some special cover songs.

This will guaranteed to be a great time so start planning now to come down and gently rock out with us.

Lovers and Friends... Thank you!

Everyone’s 2009 is wrapping up here pretty fast.  We know everyone has had a crazy year and it seems like our lives with Mohr Ave. are getting crazier and crazier the closer to OH-TEN we get.

With our newest member/drummer Mike leaving us we are placed back in familiar territory looking for a new drummer that can fit musically and personally.  We will truly miss Mike but obviously wish him luck in life.

We have decided to take a break from live shows for a little while.  Your last chance to see us in 2009 will be this Thursday at Regency Mall’s Hot Topic in Racine, WI.  We will be playing a very personal acoustic set.  We will be playing most of the music on the CD we have out on iTunes and some newer tracks.  Last acoustic show we played it went very well and we know this week’s performance will be a lot of fun as well.

As we close out 2009 and bring in the New Year we will also be finishing up at least two new tracks that have never been played and we will again begin recording a new Mohr Ave. album.  Although we have not finalized what studio we will be using this time around we do know that this album will reflect our heavier side… but we know it will still appeal to everyone.

Last but not least while we are out we will still be close.  We will be uploading older live performances, updates on recording, and we will start spending more time in front of the camera with our YouTube page.  We will obviously use email, Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace to alert you of our updates.

You’re Beautiful, keep it that way.

Over and Out

Thoughts for Food

Thoughts for Food is rapidly approaching and we would like to give you some insight on why we play the benefit every year.
We strongly feel that everyone deserves to eat. And everyone should do what they are willing for the less fortunate. We take small things for granted such as buying a soda or a drink at the bar. When there are people right outside that can’t afford food or toys for their children. We donate our time to play shows that generate food and money for those less fortunate. Hopefully we will see you guys out there with us supporting a GREAT CAUSE!
$10.00 and (2) non-perishable food items gets you into all of the venues! When you present your ticket, you will be given a handstamp or wristband that gains you entry into each venue.

Here is a little history of the organization.

In the late fall of 1992, Mark Paffrath (then Executive Director of Racine County Project Emergency), Steve Klinkhammer, Bill May, and Ron Schultz (Vets 21 of Racine), and Dave Popoff (George's Tavern) developed Thoughts For Food™ as a benefit to support Project Emergency. Racine County Project Emergency, now the Racine County Food Bank, is a non-profit, United Way supported organization that supplies food to residents in need in Racine County. Vets 21 of Racine had previously sponsored several food and fund raising benefits for the Racine County Food Bank and wanted to continue its efforts while allowing for greater input and support from the community. What developed was the concept of local musicians donating their "thoughts for food." This would give Racine area musicians an opportunity to showcase their talents and the community a chance to respond with food and cash donations for the Food Bank. Thoughts For Food™ 1, held on February 27, 1993, featured twelve acts on one stage. The event was held at George's and the tavern was filled beyond capacity before the first act had finished. Admission to Thoughts For Food™ 1 was $3 and a non-perishable food item. The event raised $1,200 and 435 pounds of food. Since then, the annual event has grown in size as has the amount of food and funds contributed. The number of venues and acts have increased to where there is discussion for a twice per year event. The second yearly event, will feature venues located throughout the city. The reason behind a twice per year event is threefold: the Food Bank benefits from two food and funding events, bands and people that could not participate in the Winter event can possibly participate in the Autumn event, and the already large network of venue staffers, sound technicians, food collectors and other volunteers will no longer be stretched to the limit.
The success of Thoughts For Food™ has always depended on the support of its volunteers. Over the past 17 years, hundreds of dedicated people and families from VVA 767, A.F.S.C.M.E. Local 67, U.A.W. Local 180, the Racine County Food Bank, and the general Racine community helped by staffing the event, distributing and collecting food contribution boxes during the month of February, photographing the event and doing the myriad other tasks that make the event successful. In addition, several hundred band members, sound and lighting techs, and other contributors to the event gave unselfishly of their time and talent. Over its 17 years, Thoughts For Food™ has raised over $301,000 and more than 85,000 pounds of food for the Racine County Food Bank! It is truly a peaceful demonstration of caring and concern by Racine area residents! After each event, a symbolic check is presented to the Racine County Food Bank at the traditional post-event party held for the volunteers, bands, sponsors, club owners, and organizers at George's Tavern.
